DEEP, An Introduction
At Vision of Hope MCC we challenge ourselves to become DEEP Disciples, who are
devoted, engaged, empowered and passionate.
Each of us are unique and because of this, God’s transformational process is unique for each one of us. And though the Spirit of God is the One who transforms us, each individual has personal responsibility in the process. Many spiritual disciplines can contribute, yet God is primarily concerned with transforming the whole person, not just patterns of behavior.
Powerful Worship is about bringing glory to God through worship, praise and prayer. John 4:23 tells us “a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship God in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers God seeks.” We seek to accomplish Powerful Worship through our Prayer Ministry, our times of Revival, our A/V Sound Ministry, as well as through our Liturgical Dance Team, Praise Team, Joyful Noise Choir and Puppet Team.
Mission: To fulfill our Vision of “Being Led by Christ, Empowered to Rock the World” by providing Powerful Worship which is Jesus focused, Spirit filled and where God is alive and active and presents possibilities for transforming us into DEEP Disciples of Christ.
Deliberate Faith Development is about specific practices you involve yourself in so that you can become a DEEP Disciple. Matthew 6:5 tells us “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” We seek to accomplish this through our Small Group Programs, our Educational Programs and through growing our Children and Youth up in faith through Sunday School and special programs.
Extreme Hospitality is about making a commitment to invite, welcome, include, and support people. Extreme Hospitality reminds us as Jesus states in Matthew 20:28 “not to be served but to serve.” We seek to accomplish this through our Welcome Programs, our Congregational Care and Life Programs and through sustaining our facilities in Mountville, York and Reading.
Audacious Service is about reaching out. We are challenged as Christians to reach out to others and work for justice as Jesus did. For those of us who are followers of Christ, it is not an option to love, to teach, to heal and to associate with the outcast and marginalized. In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that parable of the sheep and goats. Jesus reminds us of how we are called to reach out to others as the King replies, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me.” We seek to accomplish this through our Benevolence Fund, which helps those in need, our Pride events, our growing relationship with the community in Moldova, and our Ribbons of Hope Ministry. We also seek to accomplish service through technology and communication programs.
Larger-Than-Life Generosity is about the giving of our dollars to support the work of Vision of Hope MCC. 2nd Corinthians 8: 11b-12 says, “Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly.” We seek to accomplish this through our Leadership Programs, our Board of Directors, Office Administration and our connection with our denomination, UFMCC.
